Depart from Kampala or Entebbe for a scenic drive to Kibale National Park. Pass through vibrant tea plantations and rural towns like Mubende and Fort Portal, with a stop for lunch en route at a local restaurant in Fort Portal. Check into your lodge. After settling in, head to the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. Spot diverse birdlife (e.g., Great Blue Turaco) and primates like red colobus monkeys, with local guides sharing insights about the community-run conservation project. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relax under the stars, listening to the sounds of the rainforest.

Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking that starts at 8:00 AM. Join a small group (maximum 8 people) led by expert Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers to track a habituated chimpanzee troop. The trek lasts 2-3 hours through lush forest trails, offering a 95%+ chance of encountering chimps. Spend one hour observing their fascinating behaviors - grooming, playing, or foraging. Return to the lodge for lunch and some downtime. Optionally, enjoy a guided forest walk to spot other primates (e.g., black-and-white colobus, L’Hoest’s monkey) or relax at your lodge, soaking in views of the Ndali-Kasenda crater lakes.
