Helpful Tips for the Adventure

Book Early

Especially for tours targeting specific seasons as prime lodging and guide availability fill fast. Secure your permits and accommodation well in advance.

Best Seasons

For birding, the wetter months (March-May, Oct-Nov) offer peak activity, but dry seasons (Jun-Sep, Dec-Feb) provide excellent access and are also superb.

Health Requirements

Yellow Fever vaccination is required. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended—consult your doctor before travel.

Packing Essentials

Layered clothing is key! Mornings in highlands are cold; lowlands are warm. Essential items: quality binoculars, field guide, waterproof bag, sturdy walking shoes, rain jacket, sun protection, and power banks.

Birding Gear

We provide a spotting scope, but bringing your own binoculars is essential. A camera with a good zoom lens is highly recommended for documentation.

Adventure Mindset

Come ready for adventure! Some days involve early starts and longer drives, but the rewards around every corner are utterly priceless. The roads are part of the authentic African experience.
