Murchison Falls National Park

Where the Nile explodes through a narrow gorge — dramatic waterfalls, elephants, giraffes, and lions await.

Discover the Power of Murchison Falls

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda's largest and oldest conservation area, covering approximately 3,840 square kilometers. Located in northwestern Uganda, the park is bisected by the mighty River Nile, which explodes through a narrow 7-meter gorge, plunging 45 meters into the "Devil's Cauldron" below — one of the most powerful waterfalls on Earth.

The park is part of the greater Murchison Falls Conservation Area, which includes Karuma and Bugungu Wildlife Reserves. This diverse ecosystem supports over 76 mammal species and 450 bird species, making it a premier safari destination in East Africa.

Experience the breathtaking boat safari to the base of the falls, game drives across the rolling savannah grasslands of the Nile Delta, and the chance to see the "Big Five" (excluding rhinos) in their natural habitat. The park's combination of dramatic waterfalls, the Victoria Nile, and abundant wildlife creates an unforgettable Ugandan safari adventure.

Best Time to Visit Murchison Falls

The rainy seasons (March-May and September-November) bring lush landscapes, spectacular bird breeding seasons, fewer tourists, and often lower lodge prices. The falls are at their most powerful and dramatic.
